About the Wallsend Winter Carnivale
On the second weekend in August, Wallsend Town celebrates the Wallsend Winter Carnivale, a fun, family day where local children save up for weeks to spend their pocket money on gifts, show bags and rides. In past years the Wallsend Winter Carnivale has attracted over 35,000 people – attracted by business special offers, market stalls, entertainment and rides. The community comes out in force, as do over 30 local community groups all involved to showcase their products or services. The Wallsend Winter Carnivale has been designed to attract families to the event. A Traditional Circus ,involving High Wire Trapeze, Roving Street Performers, Clowns and Circus Acts. As well as the colour, vibrancy of the circus, local businesses are geared up to cook up a storm and business special offers on the day all mixed in with a select group of quality market stalls offering arts, craft and fine foods.
Wallsend Winter Carnivale is all about Fun!
The Wallsend Winter Carnivale Parade kicks off at 10.00 am with NSW Police, big bands, community groups, circus performers, marching bands, Fire Brigade, SES, local schools, and much more parading down Nelson Street showing off what Wallsend has to offer to the community.
After the parade and throughout the day over 35,000 people will be able to experience the Big Bands in the Rotunda including a Ukelale Workshop , Sing Australia – Wallsend, Two Stages in Tyrell and Boscowan Street , jam packed with local talent schools Genr8 & , N Ergize , Maxi Jazz Dance, Aspire and Special Guest – Wayne Rogers Finalist in Australia’s Got Talent..
The delicious smells of local cuisine being served by local restaurants and cafes, will line the streets as well as quirky but colorful market stalls for early Christmas gift buying.
The Wallsend Winter Carnivale is the showcase event in the western suburbs of Newcastle LGA. The event also attracts visitors from Lake Macquarie, Cessnock, Central Coast and Maitland as it is a great family day out, with many attractions that are free.
