Wallsend benefits from visitation to several nearby tourist attractions. It is also in the geographic centre of the Lower Hunter making it well placed to access the full range of the region’s famous tourist attractions – from stunning beaches to lakes and waterways, mountains and wineries.
The Hunter is also quickly building a reputation as an ideal location for conferences and conventions. Wallsend’s proximity to the region’s key health and education facilities, as well as key tourism offerings, makes it an ideal location for accommodating delegates.

Hunter Wetlands Centre – a haven for wildlife and people with picnics, walking, canoes, bird-watching, dip-netting and environmental education.

Tree Tops Adventure Park -  consists challenges in the tree tops, where participants can slide down Flying Foxes, move from tree to tree on suspension bridges and enjoy many other exciting activities up to 20 metres above the forest floor!

Blackbutt Reserve – 182ha of bushland offering walking, picnic facilities, and wildlife exhibits.

Bluegum Hills Regional Park – ??ha of bushland with large open spaces, walking tracks, picnic facilities, a themed playground and the privately owned Treetop Adventure Park.

Wallsend’s Heritage Walks – self-guided tour of 12 historic sites promoted by the Wallsend Heritage Group.

Awaba State Forest – a popular escape for the bush-walking fraternity.
